  2. Maiden Tower (working hours: 10 a.m. - 5 p. m. Day-off - Monday)

    The Maiden Tower is a remarkable architectural monument of V-XII cc.; this is one of 2000 architectural monuments within the Absheron area. Raising to a height of 90 ft, it stands much as it did a thousand years ago. The walls are 16 ft (5 m) thick at the base and 13 ft (4 m) towards the top. Erected on a coastal rock it was built for defence purpose and was protected elsewhere on each of its 8 stages that could shelter 200 people in time of an attack.

  3. Old City Tour includes visiting the Shirvan-Shahs' Palace (XV-XVI cc.).

    This is a unique complex of buildings richly decorated by 15th -century skilful architects and craftsmen. Among them are the tomb of Seid Yahia Bakuvi, a court astronomer; Shah's family tomb; the Palace Bathhouse, discovered in 1936; Synyk-Kala Minaret, the earliest (XI c.) of the dated monuments in the Old City. The Shirvan-Shah's Palace ensemble is mentioned in all the guidebooks on the world architecture.

  4. Fire Worshippers' Temple (named Ateshgah ) is a historic monument of XVII c.

    It is an Indian Temple built near the natural vents of flaming gas in Surakhny area at a 25- km distance from Baku. Openings in the walls permitted a view of the eternal fire on the altar inside and other flames at the four corners of the altar roof. Its exhibition depicts the life of Indian pilgrims and proves close links between India and Azerbaijan in the Middle Ages when the merchant caravans were followed by Parsee pilgrims flocking to the "sacred flames".

  5. Museum of Carpets and Applied Art. Working hours: 10 a.m. - 5.30. p.m. Day-off - Monday.
    The Museum was founded in 1972. The permanent exhibition displays main types of Azerbaijan smooth-faced carpets, famous for its wool and natural dyes and a great variety of carpets with pile. Displayed together with carpets are some splendid samples of craft works, hand-made jewellery and other exhibits.

  6. Azerbaijan History Museum. Working hours: 11 a.m. - 5.30. p.m. Day-off - Friday.
    The exhibits display history and archaeology of Azeri people from antiquity to nowadays. The collection on view includes unique archaeological, ethnographic, numismatic and other items of cultural heritage of Azerbaijan.

  7. Museum of Fine Arts named after R. Mustafayev. Working hours: 11 a.m. - 5.30. p.m.
    The exhibits on view include samples of applied art and crafts: national rugs and carpets, jewellery, ornamental copperware and woodenware, silk garments and fabrics, embroidery, etc.

  8. Azerbaijan Literature Museum. Working hours: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
    The collection contains rare manuscripts, miniatures, books, national rugs and carpets of great value. It is a place to obtain information about literary activity of the great Azerbaijani poets Khagani (1141-1209) and Nizami (1120-1199).

  9. Gobustan tour - the rock-carvings at the Gobustan area (about 60 km from Baku)

    This unique state-protected reserve is one of the most ancient places of human civilisation, an open - air "picture gallery" of primitive men. 4,000 petroglyphs on 700 rocks can be seen here. There are representations of cult ceremonies and everyday life, pictures of bulls, wild Coolan donkeys, rock goats, deer, various symbols and signs.

    Sheki - (320 km from Baku). This is one of the most ancient towns in Azerbaijan, situated on a mountain slope over 2,200 ft above sea level. The upper, ancient part of the town is turned to a historical museums. In the 18th century fortress you can see the summer Palace of the Sheki Khans richly decorated with wall paintings and decorative details. The strained-glass windows and wooden latticework provide original lighting. You will stay in one of the 18th century caravanserais that was recently renovated and is serving as a hotel. Here you can stay for several days and then come back to Baku or pass on to Georgia.

  10. Tour to Ganja - the second - largest town in Azerbaijan. It is situated at a 350-km distance from Baku. Access by plane (local lines) or by bus. This is homeland of the great poet and thinker Nizami Ganjevi and a picturesque mosque Imamzadeh is worth of visiting as one of the places of interest

The history of Guba region begins from Gudial village .Guba khanate was founded in 18th century and Khudat became its centre .After little while khan of Guba Huseinali khan moved
